WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING! The world we live in is changing and it’s not a change that we should be proud of. Our 4.5 billion-year-old Earth is in its worst condition with global temperatures rising drastically and millions of people massively affected by it.
Overconsumption of natural oil, fossil fuels and coal resulting in gas emissions into the Earth’s atmosphere is leading to an increase in the earth’s carbon dioxide levels by 411 parts per million; meaning that these levels are at their highest in more than 3 million years.

About eighteen of the highest temperatures ever recorded have occurred in the last 18 years. This climate change is way more complex than any of us anticipated and have ever dealt with before. Glaciers are melting, the World is seeing an increase in hurricanes and floods, forests are dying, oxygen levels are down, and these are just a few of the many effects climate change is causing.
A recent paper, written by David Spratt, claims that if we don’t stop Global Warming, the human civilisation will have a “near- to mid-term existential” chance to crumble and finish by the year 2050. That’s only 31 years from now! As of now, there are about 800 million people getting adversely affected by climate change.

These are worrying times and a change is required on a mass level. From individual to government levels, everybody needs to take an initiative to counter climate change. You can help in stopping this catastrophe by these simple changes in your daily lives.
Just by changing the lights at your workplace and home with a compact fluorescent light bulb you can save an annual amount of 150 pounds of carbon dioxide. By trying to drive less, walk small distances, carpooling and taking the bus, you can save about a pound of carbon dioxide for every kilometre you travel. By turning off your laptops, televisions, DVD players and other electronic devices, you can save thousands of pounds of Co2 every year.

Celebrities like Leonardo Di Caprio, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jessica Alba and Emma Thompson are actively taking their part in climate change. But you don’t need to be a celebrity to have a legitimate concern over this issue. Start now and save your future generations from a plethora of global warming issues.
